20 Time saving awesome kitchen gadgets in India
I cannot express enough, my love for kitchen gadgets. And then there are way too many out there, some are so fancy to the eyes- one would just want to impulse buy.
But heres a list of some awesome ( almost must have for me ) kitchen gadgets that are indeed time saving! And yes , a lot of these are quirky and fancy, but absolutely awesome!
1. Food processor
This tops the list. I am a full time working mom. But working or not a mom is ALWAYS busy ! A food processor is so handy dandy- from shredding to grating, chopping , blending, kneading, mixing- it does it all! What more- food processor with mixer grinder attachments is a must have to ease out your life in the kitchen. I am in love with my philips intelligent food processor.
2. Mandolin slicer,grater and chopper
I love mandoline slicer and choppers . If you do not wish to use your food processor, maybe you have a small onion to chop or a small tomato- these are perfect. And slicing any vegetable is a piece of cake. After my german mandolin almost wore out, I got one at a much cheaper rate from Home Center- Life style . For Rs 900 and it does the job very well!
3.Kitchen weighing scale.
An indespensible tool, especially if you bake or use recipes that needs accurate measuring.
4. Candy Thermometer/ Food Thermometer/ Oven thermometer
A lot of food preparations need accurate measuring of temperatures. And tescoma has some wonderful thermometers. These are available at Reliance living.

5. Egg timer.
While multitasking, this tool serves its purpose. Just Drop it in the pot of water thats boiling your eggs, and the change in color will tell you how rare/ soft or hardboiled your eggs are
6. Vario Cutting Board System
Vario cutting Board system by ghidini is one of the best chopping boards available in India. It has 4 separate foils for fruit/ vegetable/ meat /bread. So if you are someone who likes keeping your meat and vegetable chopping board different , this is an awesome choice.
7. Hand Mixer
Perfect for mixing and whipping. A tool thats used to its fullest in my kitchen. Philips is what I use for a hand mixer, but ofcourse there are a huge number of brands to choose from. If you bake- this is a must, unless you are a regular at the gym !
8. Apple corer
Prerna , who writes at themomwrites.com , loves her apple corer. She also loves her citrus juicer. – her go to tools every morning
I like the mastrad multipurpose corer thats ideal for coring and pitting most fruits and vegetables. 1 serrated end to core apples and pears. 1 scooped end for melons,avocados,courgetes etc. Dishwasher Safe
9. Wonderchef measuring set
What is like about this measuring set is, it has a measuring jug, cup measures as well as measuring spoons. It also has a whisk that comes along.
10. Silicon pot holders and silicon mittens
Easy to keep clean and definitely essential for safety! I love the tescoma silicon pot holders and mittens! These again , are available at various department stores and Reliance trends. Also available at Magikart
11. Pepper Mill
Vandana from Mumsphere loves her electric pepper mill. Both electric pepper mills as well as manual are available at department stores and at Zansaar, Magickart etc….
12. Salad Spinner
Is salad a regular at your home? Salad spinners are indespensable then! A wide variety of salad spinners are available. Ghidini salad spinners are excellent.
13. Microwave ovens
There were times that microwave ovens were considered luxury, and now its a mundane kitchen appliance in every home. Samsung as well has LG have the widest range of microwave ovens. Convection ovens are great for those who bake in small batches.
14. Mastrad Hotplates
If you dont like foods going cold at the dining table, mastrad hotplates are excellent. These are silicon hotplates with insulated edges. You put them for 2 minutes in the microwave and they remain hot for 1 hour.
15 Electric lighters.

16 Knife sets , peelers, graters
Whats a kitchen without good quality knives? Ghidini, tescoma, trudeau, have wonderful knife sets. Mastrad also makes some amazing peelers and zesters. Tescoma has a huge range of graters.
17. Toaster and Waffle Maker.
Electric Sandwich makers are great and a lot come with additional waffle attachments. Pop up toasters are cheaper and great for every quick toasts
18. Oil Drizzlers and infusers
Oil dispensers of various kinds are available today. The ones which pour out only a limited amount of oil at a time ( trudeau has these oil dispensers that gives you 1 tbsp at a time) . Then there are flavour infusing oil drizzlers like the ones by Mastrad and tescoma that help you put in herbs to infuse flavours in oils.
19. Bag clips with date indicator
Mastrad makes some cool bag clips with date indicators. These are clips to close coffee bag and 1 measuring spoon Foldable measuring spoon for space saving Magnetic with date indicator for best before end date.
20. Colanders
From collapsible colanders to can colanders by tescoma( personal favorite), we get it all! Silicon collapsible collanders are easily available,however I love these colanders by tescoma!

An exhaustive post, Poonam!!! I would add a kitchen timer to the list, no more forgotten dishes that end up burnt!!! I find it especially handy when baking and boiling pasta

Just curious.. any idea why its good/safe to separate cutting boards of veg and meat stiffs
Malar, Cutting boards a lot of times the maid of the house washes. I dont use a dishwasher, and so a fear of cross contamination is always there. Hence I like keeping them separate
